How Often Should my Art be Appraised?

We recommend updating valuations on works of art every year, at a minimum. The art market moves quickly, and you don’t want to be caught with an outdated understanding of what your collection is worth. Appraisal Bureau keeps a close eye on each season’s auction results, the constant stream of new gallery exhibitions, and broader economic factors such as inflation to ensure the most accurate and up-to-date value for your art.

When using our software, your appraisals stay valid for a certain amount of time. Retail Replacement Value (insurance) expires after one year, and Fair Market Values are good for six months. This only matters if you need to generate a new Appraisal Report for a certain use case (like you donated the work to a museum). If your value is expired, do not worry, just request an update and we'll turnaround the new value as quickly as possibly.
